This Web site:

Welcome to SterlingTeaches.com. Sterling is an avid learner that feels the best way to learn something is to teach someone else. Sterling is a Technology Education Teacher and has taught in multiple states a wide variety of subjects to learners of all ages. Sterling is working on his degree in Instructional Technology, and is fascinated with the way technology can enhance learning. Often parents of Sterling's students express interest in learning what their children are learning.

Sterling decided to create a web site that will satisfy a couple of needs:

  1. Sterling is working on converting his high school technology courses into accredited online elective high school courses. (He has entered a business idea competition at ideablob.com and would greatly appreciate any feedback on his idea. )
  2. Sterling wants to learn new things, but feels he can better learn them if he explains them to others, so this is a medium for Sterling to learn new things and share his newly gained knowledge with others.
  3. Sterling is working on his Masters Degree in Instructional Technology and wants to have a "sandbox" to try out new technologies.
  4. Sterling wanted to boost the economy so he used his 2008 Stimulus check to get a few things to make this work.

This web site is created using various methods. I like using things that are readily available to most people that aren't necessarily tech savvy. The Courses section is created using Moodle, a very high quality Open Source Course Management System. The tutorials sections is created using wordpress an Open Source blogging application. Both of which have been installed using Fantasitco. The Blog has been created using Blogger.com. I want to be able to compare the two blogging alternatives. The review section is to demonstrate products, books, or websites that I like or that someone asks my opinion on.

I use css, and tables and other methods in the design. I like to try different things and see how they all can work.

The FAQ section is a place that people can ask me questions on how to do something, if the question interests me I will research how to do it and post a video response.

I will try to keep the web site looking similar, but I don't want to spend too much time on making "turn key" web apps match perfectly. I may do this later on, but for now I want to experiment with other things.

The content on this website is how I view things, you may disagree, or find better information. If you find erronious information please let me know so I can refine my research. I will cite the information I teach, some comes from years of various experience, other will come from research.
